Connected Through the Sport is a community-building initiative made to strengthen support, visibility, and belonging among CMS athletes and the broader community. The project aims to pair each CMS team with a local elementary school classroom to foster meaningful relationships through recess visits, shared game-day experiences, and ongoing encouragement between college athletes and young students. It also expands the Game Day Gram initiative, offering free to send notes of support from peers, faculty, and staff that are delivered to athletes before competitions, helping them feel valued by the broader campus community. To boost in-person energy, we will pair Game Day Grams with tailgates, food tables, and halftime activities, turning games into vibrant gathering spaces that build school spirit. These initiatives provide athletes tangible reminders that their efforts matter beyond the scoreboard, and cultivates a stronger culture of belonging that connects the whole campus community.
