ABOUT THIS PROJECT
“Athletes for Access” is a campaign to increase civic engagement by addressing inequities in youth sports across Ann Arbor, Ypsilanti, and Saline schools. Michigan student-athletes would host free clinics that teach K–8 students teamwork, collaboration, and new sports, while older students also learn how athletic skills can lead to college scholarships and higher-level participation. This project combines athletic mentorship with civic education, creating a space where sports and community empowerment intersect.
CLAIRE'S WHY
I am participating in the fellowship because it is so important to use our platform as student-athletes to positively affect the community around us. To be an Engaged Athlete is to use my voice to empower kids to get involved in sports and teach them to become good leaders.
