This project partners with the IBA (Inquilinos Boricuas en Acción) Youth Program in South Boston to amplify youth civic engagement and strengthen the connection between IBA students and Boston College students and student-athletes. By integrating BC volunteers into IBA’s existing after-school tutoring sessions, the project supports academic growth while creating space for conversations about leadership, voting, community identity, and using one’s voice. Student-athletes will also share their experiences navigating education, athletics, and college pathways, giving youth insight into opportunities not always visible in their communities. Overall, the project aims to build consistent, meaningful relationships that foster belonging, expand opportunity, and bridge the gap between Boston College and the surrounding neighborhoods.
