ABOUT THIS PROJECT
My project had two objectives: strengthening the volunteer pipeline at the non-profit I volunteer at, Inquilinos Boricuas en Acción (IBA) rooted in South Boston by building a consistent tutor base and deepening connections with Boston College within their Youth Development Program. Additionally, expanding their access to business attire for youth in the program. This ensures students have reliable academic support while also being prepared for mock interviews, internships, and important professional events. The impact is increased opportunity, confidence, and long term support for youth navigating academic and career pathways.
JANIS' WHY
My why for participating in the fellowship is that it gives me a space to live out my values in a way that feels real and purposeful, not just spoken. Being an Engaged Athlete Fellow means honoring the lessons sport has given me by showing up for others with intention, empathy, and heart. It represents becoming someone who uses passion and resilience to make a difference beyond myself.
