ABOUT THIS PROJECT

I was creating a partnership between Girls on the Run (South Central Wisconsin) and Badger athletes. Badger athletes are confident, active, and strong role models for local elementary and middle school-aged girls, and was integrated into Girls on the Run practices and celebratory 5k.

MAGGIE'S WHY

College athletes hold privileged, public roles within their communities and have the opportunity to be advocates and role models. Being an Engaged Athlete Fellow gives me the opportunity to give back to the community who made my athletic participation possible. As a seventh-generation Wisconsinite representing the state's flagship university, I want to encourage fellow Wisconsin girls to learn the grit, leadership, and teamwork skills that come with sports participation.
