ABOUT THIS PROJECT

Howard University Men's Basketball teammates Cameron Shockley-Okeke and Mounir Hima partnered to create a program targeting at making their fellow student athletes civic catalysts. The program gave athletes the resources, perspectives, and problem solving space to become local advocates. In addition, Cam and Mounir have planned an athletic gear drive to collect donations to be distributed in Mounir's home country of Niger. "My teammate and I are gathering equipment from our teammates and other athletic programs within our athletic department to send back to Niger and give people access to clothes and sporting equipment they might not have easy access to."

JOSH'S WHY

To be a fellow means to recognize the impact that being an active memeber of your community can have by being an athlete. We cannot simply "shut up and dribble." We are given a platform to help others and shine light on inequalities in our communities.
