ABOUT THIS PROJECT

My project focused on using student-athletes as leaders to engage and empower local youth through conversations centered on fairness, leadership, and resilience. By leveraging sports as a shared language, the initiative creates spaces for dialogue, mentorship, and community connection. The project aims to strengthen relationships between Howard University athletes and the surrounding community while encouraging long-term civic awareness and leadership development.

RACHEL'S WHY

My why for participating in the Engaged Athlete Fellowship is rooted in my belief that student-athletes have both a platform and a responsibility to lead beyond sport. Being an Engaged Athlete Fellow means intentionally using my voice, experiences, and visibility to create meaningful change while developing as a leader. This fellowship represents the intersection of leadership, service, and impact that I want to carry with me beyond my playing career.
